Andersonville’s gastropub, Hopleaf , was recently featured in a story on ABC 7. There you will find hundreds of local and Belgian beers. While Hopleaf itself does not brew beer, Andersonville is on its way to being home to a new microbrewery and currently is home to the micro-distillery, Koval.
Maybe it was because of the recent Craft Beer Week in Chicago which took place May 16-26. It could also have been Andersonville’s homebrew contest, which took place on May 23 at a local restaurant called Hamburger Mary’s. Whatever the reason may be, 4 Paws Brewing, a new micro brewery which poped up on the outskirts of Andersonville at Wolcott and Balmoral.
This news was picked up by the Illinois Craft Brewing Guild which wrote about the story on its own blog.
Matt and Meghan hope to have their first commercial batch of beer in the tanks as soon as possible. After all,Chicago Craft Beer Week is right around the corner, running May 16 – 26. They would love to have a batch of their two flagship beers, Brindle Amber Ale and Fawn Blonde Ale, ready to present at Beer Under Glass, one of the events sponsored by the Illinois Craft Brewers Guild. Matt knows he will have to push things in order to get the beer flowing by then, but seems undaunted by the pressure and ready to contribute to the festivities.
That was an excerpt from the blog post and an exciting look into Andersonville’s newest and only microbrewery and because the Chicago neighborhood promotes buying local, this could be a sign of more to come.
